Jean joins AVS team and went straight into meeting in inner city Kampala!

Jean flew into Entebbe Airport unaffected by her 8.5 hours flight. This morning the AVS team went to Kawempe Youth Centre, located in a poor area of Kampala. Ester Kyazike, who runs the Centre, gave us all tips on what might be helpful to put into the social programme at Muyembe's new 'soon to be' AVS Community Centre.

Library well stocked with books to lend students.
On her long journey of  300+ miles to Muyembe, Jean was entertained as we bumped along on the local roads. Fish were bought for our tea, caught in the lake moments before we arrived. Fresh pineapples and mangoes were added to our shopping basket, bought from the road side stalls. Already she could see that if only farming methods changed, Uganda could produce so much more food for it's nation and the rest of the world.
Dinner being kept cool for journey

Janet says a big thank you to Carol for the black school shoes which her family couldn't afford to buy her at  the start of the new school year.

Foot Note.
The little boy is being given further regular food now and the promise of goats has now risen to 4! We will give pairs of goats to other needy families. I'll show all the photo's at the end of week!
Thanks also to a pledge of a laptop in good working order. They are usually given to our older sponsored students particularly at university/college level.

Please think of A.V.S. when you upgrade your personal computer.
